Five minutes after I was born, my father spelled my last name with an extraneous letter. My name is Marly Chhoeung (of the Chheung family), pronounced like "Maly Chung," giving my name an English letter inefficiency of 30.77%.
To this day, my last name is legally different than my parents and siblings. I used to want the sameness, but I'm no longer nine years old. Nowadays I focus on what's truly important in my life: hamsters and tiny versions of big things.
I graduated University of North Texas with a BFA in Communication Design in the Spring of 2023. Illustration and design are my first loves, and I plan on confessing soon. These days I have been learning motion design in my free time and baking miniature cookies.
